Very interesting to say the least! I don't have much by way of pyritized fossils but I know a few collectors that do. I'll be certain to refer them to this thread.

This will probably upset some purists but it works. I have 40 year old fossils I painted with clear shellac . Still look like the day I collected them. NOT for use on un-pyritized fossils, almost impossible to remove. But it works, though it will darken the finish.
