maceemiller
Hi there. Many years ago my grandfather gave me this "egg". Having found it packed away earlier today, I thought I'd join this forum in the hope of finding out just what it is. I have no idea where it was found. Thankyou in advance. TqB
Hi, not an egg I'm afraid, I think it's a fossil sponge in flint. Tarquin

Ludwigia
I agree with Tarquin. Finds like that occur quite often. Pity. It really does look like an egg at first glance, doesn't it? CH4ShotCaller
I agree, it's not an egg. But, it's certainly a good conversation piece. Seems that many members of late have found some interesting pieces that are very suggestive. One from last week resembled a small human skull. Keep up the hunt! Roz
I'd be tempted to open it. I notice it looks as if it has a stress fracture. Welcome to the forum!
tmaier
Cracking it open might result in a mess. If I were to try opening it, I'd try a cut-off disk and a dremmel. Might crumble anyway, though.
