Texas Fossil Hound
This is a Black Cat Mountain trilobite I am working on. I am not quite finished, but I thought I would show some progress. Not as good as Bob Carroll, but not too bad. I just love these BCM Bugs!! Jon "Silence is Golden, but duct tape is Silver."

Ludwigia
Keep up the good work! I can see you're using an air pen or engraver, but are you abrading or scrubbing for the finish? jgcox
You are doing great and the bug looks good. I have cleaned several from BCM. Did this one for a forum member recently. The more you prep the better you will become.

piranha
What species is that? Looks like some kind of Phacops. Indeed, the trilobite being prepped is a fantastic example of the phacopid: Lochkovella (=Reedops) deckeri It appears to be partially enrolled but probably complete if you decide to remove it entirely from the matrix. Jesuslover340
Jgcox did a brilliant prep job on the specimen- I cannot thank him enough! Excellent work, Texas Fossil Hound! I'd love to see it when it's complete! Texas Fossil Hound
Ludwig, I am using an ARO and microjack 3 air scribe to remove the big matrix and a steel dental pic sharpened under the microscope to pic at the surface matrix under the microscope. Final pass is 17mg sodium bicarb through an air abrader. It is slow going, but the result is a pretty decent amount of detail. Jon "Silence is Golden, but duct tape is Silver."
