Tom_
Evening all. Last weekend I spent an entire day walking bracklesham bay here in England. Amongst the millions (yes millions!!) of fossil shells I have found a few sharks teeth. Can anyone tell me what species they are from? I am sorry for the poor quality pic but I am still on holiday and only have my phone for pictures. The 2 big ones are approx 25mm long. Thanks in advance, Tom
Gideon
Hi Tom Sorry I can't help with the ID, but just to say nice set of teeth. That 2nd one especially.
RichardC
Really nice finds! I am no expert in identifying but have the first and second teeth got serrations down the edge? If so, my guess would be Carcharocles auriculatus...
abcwixson
If the first 2 are serrated i would lean toward the megalodon or chubutensis id depending on the age of the deposits
Kosmoceras
This is an old topic, however... I would not call these megalodon or chubutensis, as neither of these species are present in the Bracklesham Group. If serrated, they would be Carcharocles auriculatus, but the photos are not good enough to tell. Regards,
