Was doing some fossil collecting today in the NJ cretaceous streams, when I found this beauty. I am pretty sure that it is an incisor of a giant beaver. I was coming back when I decided to double check a gravel bank and there it was.

Wow that is definitely in the rare category. Congratulations

Great and rare find and great that you recognized what it was. New Jersey streams still give up all kinds of treasures. Keep looking.

I agree it's not Cretaceous though, more like Pleistocene.

Thanks guys,

I am really excited about it. When I first picked it up, I looked for more of it, but I did not find anymore. I was also on my way out to head to my moms' for dinner.

Now thats a great NJ find.....These kind of fossils are about the rarest thing you can find in this state.....A big thumbs up.
