Gideon
Hi I found this piece of bone sticking out of the clay at Grange Chine on the Isle of Wight. It's only a small piece, but was wondering if there is enough to go on to indicate what it may have come from? The area is Wealden clay, C 120MY. Bones of this size, in this area could be turtle? small theropod? croc? Thanks Henry
calhounensis
Not sure about who it belonged to, as I don't know a thing about your formation. I believe it's the partial proximal end of a rib bone.
Gideon
Calhounensis Thanks for the suggestion that it could be a rib. That will narrow things down considerably for my book trawl.
Paleoworld-101
Oooh nice bone! I agree, looks like a section of rib. Perhaps, it has something to do with a memory of a time gone by, when we were the prey, and our nights were filled with darkness..." -Eternal Enemies: Lions And Hyenas
