Paradox1828
I am sort of a lurker here but I am really proud of this project and I wanted to share it with the community! I was lucky enough to acquire a set of 46 articulated megalodon teeth and wanted to display them in a way that did them justice. After a few weeks of work my project is finally done. My construction steps are shown below as a photo journal. The jaw was made from two stacked layers of 1/8 inch thick aluminum. The teeth are attached using flexible camping gear ties (think reusable, silicone coated, durable twist ties) so each one can be removed easily and examined individually. **Also I know the teeth are facing the "wrong" way but I wanted the display side facing forward. Enjoy! Pizza for scale.... The tools I used. My template

Hunt4teeth
Wow! That is most impressive, I'm so jealous. That is an amazing set of associated Megs. It would also like to know more about them. The design is really impressive as well, I love the modern design and lighting. Thank you for sharing! Jay
Paradox1828
The teeth were purchased as an unassociated set from a well known ebay seller. There are 46 teeth total ranging in size from about 1" to over 4 1/4". All the teeth are un-restored and in beautiful condition. I wish I had the patience to find a full set like this but I enjoy many other hobbies and my work too much! I would say I enjoy making displays for fossils almost as much as I like finding them. Coco
Hi, I didn't understand why you put teeth back to front. Is it because it is more practical to make them hold so ? Paradox1828
Hi, I didn't understand why you put teeth back to front. Is it because it is more practical to make them hold so ? Coco Most collectors display the lingual (back side) of the teeth facing front as it is considered by most people to be more aesthetic. Because this jaw was designed to be primarily a display for the teeth and not a true representation of the anatomy I figured I would place the teeth in a way that made them look more attractive (at the expense of the correct orientation). If you ask most non-collectors what side they think is the face of a shark tooth most pick the wrong side... so no one who has seen my jaw yet has said anything, but I knew among a discerning crowd like this one I would have to explain myself for the discrepancy. Fortunately because the teeth are held in with flexible attachments the teeth could be flipped to the correct side of the jaw in a few minutes if waned.
