kevinnix
I know this is a big ask, but can anyone start me on what this fossil might be, It was found in a coal mine (underground), near Moranbah, in Queensland, Australia. The matrix is about as long as my finger, and is a grey stone with layers in it, Sorry there is not much information, Cheers, Kevin
Auspex
My best guess would be carbonized plant debris in sandstone matrix. tmaier
It also might be veins of some dark mineral deposit like manganese. I don't see anything that jumps out and shows a shape of being from organic origin, so it is hard to say.
