Westphalian (A) New Specimen Needs Id

Hi all found this a few days ago but ive had no luck with trying to Id it

my thoughts are

1 maybe some kind of vertebrae?

2 possible skull bone ? body bone ?

do not think its any kind of tooth

any thoughts suggestions/ comments welcome

I can see the vertebrae resemblance;

but I just don't know about the structure in the center section...

Looks like a primitive shark tooth to me.

I did think it couldn't be a tooth but now you mention it Im leaning in the same direction

I'm not sure which species of Carboniferous shark tho ?

I am leaning toward primitive shark as well. Do you know the age of the rocks?

Hi Jim the rock are lower Pennine coal measures westphalian a upper Carboniferous

Seem this is turning out to be a sharks tooth any ideas on species ?

Hey Chris!

Hmmm, another stumper for us. :zzzzscratchchin:

I am not completely convinced it is a tooth, however, I have no other guesses for you. I do see where tooth may be an option, as there does appear to be some type of enamel-like substance to half of the item, at least.

Would it be possible to reglue the piece together, then prep it out from one side or the other?

I think the fact that is is split in two may be confusing us?

Looking forward to any input from others on this.

My cell phone just doesn't have the resolution to compare it to tetrapod finger bones and such, but could it be something like that?
