stoodleypike
Hi, can any members help me identify this fossil gastropod I bought a few years' back from a junk shop? I don't know its age or its location. It could be Jurassic from Dorset, southern England, but that's only a guess. So, too, is my own identification, that it's an inner cast of a homotoma. No idea as to the species, though, and it could well be something else. Any sea slug lovers out there? BobWill
Welcome to the forum. I believe Hormotoma is Ordovician to Silurian. It may be hard to ID without knowing the correct age because it is indeed an internal mold (not cast) and therefore doesn't show any external ornamentation. stoodleypike
Hi Bob, Thanks for that. Careless of me to misspell Hormotoma in my first post. I've now reedited it.
