Possible Tooth, Peace River, Fl

Recommended Posts

I found this in the Peace River in Florida this weekend and am hopeful that someone can give me an idea as to what this is. It looks like a tooth to me and seems to have some enamel on it. The length is 1.25". I'll take some more measurements tonight.

The enamel looks too irregular/bumpy to be an incisor of any sort. My best guess is that this is a sliver of mammoth tooth from one end of the crown near the root, hence the hollow portion.

I agree with Harry. The "bark" like texture is a dead give away for Mammoth teeth.

I'm fine with either identification but if this is a piece of mammoth tooth then it's the biggest piece I've found to date. Here are a few more pictures anyway.
