Top 7 Finds Of 2014

2014 was a year of transition for me. I was able to make around 7 major trips to the chalk last year but made over 16 this season. I do have a few things that I will not currently be able to show you but I will make sure to do so in the future.

7) Cretalamna tooth.

Can only be found in certain areas of the lower Smoky Hill Chalk.

6) Toxochelys carapace bones.

Turtles are a personal favorite of mine.

5) Double Inoceramid pearl.

Pearls are somewhat rare, double pearls even more so.

4) Articulated Enchodus skull.

Great level of completion and articulation

Extremely rare and well preserved skeleton of toothed Cretaceous bird.

I am unable to provide a picture due to a pending publication of a research paper. Enjoy this picture in the meantime

Fantastic finds Kris.

Can you send us a link once the paper on Ichthyornis is published?

Has the paper been accepted?

Absolutely! However, the pace of acedemics is painfully slow and the paper is many months out.

Thanks for taking the time to post these fantastic finds. Your photos are great.

That dis-articulated Enchodus is maybe my favorite but I can't help but be mesmerized by that sword.

Hmm, I am partial to pearls... I can see your dilemma in picking just one. :)

It's hard to remember why you drained the swamp when your surrounded by alligators.

Thanks for sharing your finds sir. I too love that Swordfish fin very much.

A great year of hunting to make quite an impression on you professors.

Kris,

Any ONE of those finds would have made for a great year, and yet, ... you came up with 7 of them!:faint:

I tend to believe that the people who should be doing this are a bit more lucky and skilled than some of the rest of us.

Congratulations and well done! :thumbsu:

Q: What's the difference between a steel-belted radial and seven great fossil finds?

A: One is a Goodyear, the other is a great year!
