I need help on a piece I'm working on. I don't know how to proceed. The piece is a quadruple gastropod association with three bedding planes between them. When I was scribing off matrix one of the planes peeled taking part of the snail's shell with it. I am not sure what to do, If I glue the peeled piece back on, will the shell just peel when I remove the matrix the second time? More photos to come.

I would also like to add that it only peeled part of the shell, so that it didn't take off whole chunks of the shell, just a thin layer of it.

First of all I'd suggest using fluid super glue to glue it back on. Do you have an air abrader? That would work much better. If you're only working with a scribe, then you'll be taking a chance, but nothing ventured nothing gained...

Thanks you two. I shall try to piece it together, and see what I can do with the scribe and then try the abrasive. Just curious, what brand of glue do you typically use? I used to use paleobond but ran out and am holding back on getting more because it is expensive.

If you go to a hobby store that sells RC planes they sell cyano glue in larger sizes (1 ounce , 2 ounce) at reasonable prices . I use a super thin one from a company called MST. It bonds almost instantly. I generally paint it on using a dental applicator . You buy them by the 100 on ebay from china with free shipping. The ones I use are made by AZDENT. They come in various sizes . for about $10 total you can get regular, fine and super fine.

Well, somebody threw away part of the counter part while I was away, looks like this one may turn out quite mediocre.
