Down under fossil hunter
Hi all, I have been looking for a nice pice or two of polished dino poop or coprolite as I should correctly call it. Making up a trophy for my boss at work regarding his ability to turn an under performing filthy store into a sharp profitable business (something along the line of "who says you can't polish a turd"!) Anyhow I would usually just grab one off ebay but I am a bit of a novice when it comes to coprolite and don't want to buy a pretty rock. If anyone on the forum can help me out it would be great. Not looking for really large examples and would prefer something with a bit of colour, the thinner the slice the better. Thanks in advance. Ash
HAHA that's a great idea, DUFH. -Andy-
Just avoid getting those polished ones from Morrison formation of Utah. Most of the time, those are not coprolites. Looking forward to meeting my fellow Singaporean collectors! Do PM me if you are a Singaporean, or an overseas fossil-collector coming here for a holiday! Most of the time, those are not coprolites. Yep I have seen lots of them and they have amazing colours. I have been warned before that they are usually just interesting shaped rocks though. FLprojectmgr
Haha! I have nothing to offer but I think it's hilarious! Sounds like something that would sell fantastically at arts and crafts shows.
GeschWhat
Did you ever find your coprolite...if not, I would be happy to send a piece or two? Lori www.areallycrappystory.com/fossils www.facebook.com/fossilpoo

GeschWhat
Send me a private message with your address and I will send you a piece or two. They are the common siliceous gem variety from the Morrison Formation in Utah. They lack identifiable inclusions, no one can say definitively whether they are or are not really coprolites. However, they're polished and but they'll work for your purpose and their free! I'll even throw a couple of unpolished small specimens that are definitely coprolites (but not so pretty) if you're interested. I just love giving people snarge!
