Looks Like A Wahoo

Recommended Posts

Another nice surprise from sixgill pete's Lee Creek matrix showed up on my plate last night. I was baffled until I searched on Elasmo.com, and found what I believe is the correct ID for this neat tooth. It looks just like the Wahoo tooth pictured there. I have never seen one before, so I'd like to have my tentative ID confirmed. The photo montage includes all four sides, and top and bottom. Thanks :)

Julinna, it is hard to say for sure. Wahoo teeth are not real common in the matrix, I have several of them but only one out of the matrix. Wahoo teeth are usually larger than this, but this tooth is worn and appears broken. What is throwing me off is the side views, they don't say wahoo to me.

Julianna,

I don't have any wahoo teeth from Aurora as complete as yours but I agree with your identification. Here is a photo from elasmo.com .

Thanks to all who replied. Don, the side views of the crown is what I saw for a match with wahoo. There is a chip out of the tip, but otherwise , it looks complete to me. I made the photo in a hurry, so it might not show the tooth in the best light.

John Hamilton, that is the photo from elasmo that made me go with wahoo.

Charlie, what can I say... I am laughing!
