Fossildude19
One of the things I like about the forum is how people from all over the world get together, and discuss fossils, and hunt together for fossils. These friendships are born of a mutual admiration for fossils, that often grows into mutual admiration for each other. Carmine (xonenine) and I have been fossiling only five or six times, together, (due to the distances between us), but, we do chat frequently and have become close friends. He is a generous, kind human being, and a pleasure to hunt with, and kid around with, and to talk to. He is smart and witty, and knowledgeable about a wide range of things, from fossils to science fiction, to poetry and music. He is just a great guy, all around. Well, he sent me a package that arrived today, and in it were a beautiful fish fossil from China,...(a Lycoptera davidi), but as much as I love fossil fishes, I was more surprised and enamored of the trilobite carving he made for me. It is a Flexicalymene, and wonderfully executed! I was in awe (and a bit jealous) of the skill that Carmine has. Not only is he a talented word smith with poetry, but a wonderful hand craftsman/sculptor. I present to you, my artfully carved Flexicalymene sp. a gift, from my good friend. Thank you, Carmine! One more, next post.... 1 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." Bullsnake
Great, heart-warming story, Tim. You and Carmine are both well respected members and models of the conduct that make this a nice place to be. Awesome gifts, and by the way, what material is the carving made from? xonenine
and Tim and you all are too kind, I will always try to emulate the best around me, like Tim, and my many other friends here, and the Forum, so let me not get too mushy "Your serpent of Egypt is bred now of your mud by the operation of your sun; so is your crocodile."
