Nope.. not a surviving dino. Just as there is no surviving plesiosaur in Lox=ch Ness. His 'dragons' could be an interpretation of any sort of animal not familiar to his European eyes... Yaks?

I will just go to google for advice then. :/

Your question is valid, but so is the answer provided by JP. The Fossil Forum, I have found to be, a vast abyss of wealth and knowledge. Your reaction to the answer has me surprised.

Do you believe that man co existed with dinosaurs or is this just a let down in hope that some species of dinosaurs escaped extinction and lived unchanged until Marco Polo's time?

...I'm back.

It is indeed a vast wealth of knowledge, However I am a Creationist and I believe in there is a chance of of them surviving within the last 1000 years. But everyone has their own beliefs and I can respect that. Thanks

I was reading about Marco Polo in China. He claimed to have seen dragons pulling giant wagons. I was wondering if it's possible these so called "dragons" might have been some type of dinosaur that had survived. I am not familiar with Asian dinosaurs so just supposing they were dinosaurs what species could they have been? I really want to do a drawing of it. But my brain keeps making me want to draw a triceratops. LOL.

JP provided a rational, scientific answer. On this forum (as you know ;) ) we do not entertain topics of pseudoscience or fantasy. TFF is a science-based forum. Alluding to the idea that dinosaurs lived concurrent with humans is a subject to be discussed on other websites, not TFF. I hope you can respect our position and enjoy the Forum, as you have. :)

There is very little evidence that dinos survived past the extinction... 65 million years ago. There is one study that says there are some from the early Paleocene (about 60 million years ago in New Mexico) but I don't think this theory has been widely accepted. As for dinos a mere thousand years ago...all the fossil evidence says a resounding no.... but if you want to believe this against all evidence... well.....

I can tell you my take on Mokele Mbembe too if you want. (How's that for a teaser?)

There are also great scientific explanations for 'dragons' (see above and the myth of the Jobarr in the Sahara) and sasquatches all over the world.

I am happy to expound on any of these.. after all, this here forum is a great venue for public education.

I would be interested in these, in spite of the topic starter’s objection. ;)

Per the OP's request, this topic will be closed. However, JP is welcome to expound on the scientific explanations of the mentioned subjects in the General Discussion forum (as long as the discussion remains within our guidelines). ;)
