Saturday's Finds

I spent Saturday in my favorite haunt. It's a creek that provides fossils from the cretaceous, late miocene, pliocene and pleistocene. Every

sifter of gravel is like a box of cracker jacks - you never know what might be in it. You could have a squalicorax tooth and a megalodon in

the same mix or a mosasaur tooth and a great white. The great whites teeth are what most people are looking for, but just when you have

a great white fixed in your mind - the unexpected happens. It happened just like that again for me Saturday. I was concentrating on getting

a carcharias tooth, which I finally managed with both a decent upper and lower tooth. But my tooth of the day was a nice mosasaur tooth. Most

of the time I just find broken pieces of these teeth.
