Looking For Antique Fossil / Prehistoric Animal Diagram Images...

Many scientific drawings in the past were very beautiful.

I'm looking for good, large antique diagrams of fossils and prehistoric creatures to download and print for decoration...

Public domain of course...

I've found some nice Haeckel ones here:

If anyone has a good antique diagram of a mammoth tooth, I will be very happy, but I'm interested in all sorts of things.

Wow. Those are beautiful! I never thought about finding those and having them printed.

If you haven't already, try to find a copy of Henry Fairfield Osborn's monograph on the Probiscidea. It should have a variety of illustrations.

I find many nice illustrations with a Google Books search. I'm not sure how well digitized the books are for printing.

OK, I have found some more good ones I wanted to share. All of these should be hi-res enough to print on Shutterfly or a similar service. To download the original hi res version, right click on the image and select "open in a new tab." Then you can download. All are copyright free. You may need to crop a little or ajust brightness some first on some. Eventually, I plan to frame some of these.

Thanks !!! I definitely like one (below) of a Mastodon foot. Here is a photo of an actual foot that I took at a Tampa Fossil Show 2 years back.

Those are stunning! What a great idea! Think I see a future bday/Xmas present for my little paleontologist. <3 :)

OK, it just saw high res versions were not always displaying when opening in a new tab.

Here is my photobucket where you can download the high res version:

The hi res versions will be a lot better for printing!

I am glad you all like them; anyone have some to post?

I printed off a different diagram of a skull as a gift for my brother. It turned out pretty well. I got an 11x14 print at Shutterfly for about $9. I used the "easy crop" tool to make sure the whole image was included, with white padding around it, since the image is an odd shape.

My wife got a pic frame at walmart for about $15. Hobby Lobby cut a custom mat to fit and cover up the white padding, and installed a hanger, for about $10.
