ynot
Hey All, Just finished sorting the first 5 buckets of silt out of the 11 that I collected from My trip to Shark Tooth Hill. (next time I will take a classifier screen with Me.) There was only 14 pounds of sand in the 5 buckets, but OH what a selection of teeth there were in that sand! I kept the first 2 separate for the photos, the rest got mixed. (They were all collected in the same spot anyways.) Thought Y'all might like to have a preview of what showed itself. Here is the take from bucket 1 --sorted 40+ basking shark, 20+ dogfish shark, 25+ angel shark, lots and lots of ray teeth and 13 dermal denticels. Here is the take from bucket 2 --sorted Lots more basking, dogfish, angel and ray and 12 dermal denticels. Here is the take from all 5 buckets --unsorted Total of 7 porpoise/dolphin teeth. I will be taking individual photos of the better pieces when I get the chance. Good collecting to You all, Tony Edited March 2, 2015 by ynot Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." Paleoworld-101
Crikey!!! That's a lot of fishy goodies, well done. I spy a few bits of cow shark tooth in there too. ynot
Very nice haul!! Enjoy the sorting--and picking through the other 6 buckets! It does look like fun stuff to explore. Thanks, I can feel the things calling- but must take care of business first-- the fun will have to wait. Crikey!!! That's a lot of fishy goodies, well done. I spy a few bits of cow shark tooth in there too. Thanks, there are 2 pieces of cow shark in photo 2, found a 3 point tooth fragment in the mixed buckets. Still hoping for a whole one (or a MICRO-MEG) to pop out for Me ( if wishes would come true!). Tony Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." (sorry that I had to put the cookie cutter matrix on hold, but self collected holds more interest for Me .) Tony Edited March 2, 2015 by ynot Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys."
