aplomado
Many trilobites have complex eyes. What can you learn about the authenticity of a trilobite by looking at the eyes? Can persons making a fake/replica trilobite replicate this complexity?
Auspex
Lack of detail in compound eyes is frequently cited as a way to distinguish fabricated trilobites, but it does require that one be familiar with what 'good eyes' look like. I also suspect that perfect eye detail alone does not guarantee that a specimen is legitimate! Who has comparative examples they can post? xonenine
here's one Eldredgeops\Phacops from my Gallery, on the left, and a replica beside it. Not an exact duplicate, but an example. There are plenty of replicas that have eye lenses as well now, so it is not the best indication.
