Hello all. I was at Truman lake this past summer and while we had the pontoon beached I explored the land around the cove, finding my first fossils. Once home I did a little research, found out just how old they were and was hooked! So today I bought a rock hammer and headed out to a fairly newly exposed cut just north of Barry Road in North KC. Upon arrival I realized I didn't know what I was looking at! I could make out the separate layers but didn't know which one(s) I should focus on, so I simply bounced around. Heck, I wasn't even sure what type of rock I was messing with. So, I decided to take pictures in hopes someone here could give me an idea of which layer(s) are typically most fruitful. Unfortunately the pics are too large to post on here. If you are willing to take a look and help me out, maybe you could PM me and I can email them to you?
Also, if there are any groups here in KC that do local collecting trips, I'd love to tag along sometime so I could learn from you guys. Thank you so much for any help, and I'm excited to start this new hobby.

Most computers come with some kind of basic image editor installed; take a look in your program manager. Re-sizing is an almost intuitive task in these programs. :)
