Need Some Help With This One

I found this in a wash that I believe cuts through or has cut through several layers of limestone. I am hoping someone can tell me what it is, what layer of limestone someone would expect to find this, and how old it is. Also, is it common to find these in San Antonio and is this one in decent shape. I really appreciate your help!

It reminds me of a really old conch!

It's a modern 'helmet shell'. Probably aquarium refuse or souvenir that found its way into the watershed. ;)

Thanks for the ID help. It looks like Cassis Cornuta. I am puzzled how it

could end up where I found it. I am sure there are even stranger

things in the watershed here. My house sits on very old Indian

"lithic procurement" site or quarry. I found an ammononite (sp)

down the hill from this. Thought I had something. I still wonder if

there may be an Indian connection. Anyway, it is a cool shell.

Thanks again!
