malexander
I found this while shark tooth hunting in post oak creek in Sherman Texas today. I have seen something similar to this in my grandfather's rock collection years ago so I know it's something. He is long since passed so I can't ask him. BigGuy
How large is it. It appears to be rather large based upon the cord in the background?
BigGuy
It looks like a septarian nodule.
malexander
It is the size of my hand. The lines are dark crystal it appears now as I washed it off. After looking up the septarian nodule I'm pretty sure that's what it is! Awesome! Edited March 30, 2015 by malexander
BigGuy
Three septarian nodules. The first picture is on the Fossil Forum. The second is found: http://www.gemrockauctions.com/auctions/mineral-specimens/australian-minerals/item-223518 The third from Wilkshire Museum
malexander
The big question now is how to make it look awesome!
bone2stone
Set it up on a short tripod and place it under a black light. These sometime have a glow "green, dull yellow or orange". We find them here in Dallas in the Eagle Ford and Woodbine.
