Shellseeker
The lack of response is clearly due to the uniqueness of this "tooth". It is hard to guess at something when most fossil hunters have not seen anything remotely similar. I am unsure that it is a tooth... I wondered if it was the beak of a squid like animal. I also wondered if it was a claw or a brain case. You can see that I am grasping for options. A photo of the underside of your 2nd photo may (or may not) help. I do not think that is tooth would have the natural splitting that your tooth seems to have. Sorry for the lack of preciseness. I have none. Auspex
It looks a great deal like a bear canine. Is the age of the deposit known? zarko
on closer examination i would not say that the split is natural, rather the fracture of the fissile.if you click on pic it will enlarge and i think that it can bee seen that is a fracture of the element.
