old bones
I found this little mammal tooth in Sacha's matrix from Rattlesnake Creek. The top most images are of the root base and the occlusal view. Can anyone tell me which critter it belonged to? Thanks, Julianna

RichW9090
Yes, it appears to be a bat tooth. The plural of "anecdote" is not "evidence".

old bones
Cool! Looks like a Bat to me. Thanks, Charlie! I'm impressed...you knew that right off. Yes, it appears to be a bat tooth. Thanks for the confirmation, Rich. Can you tell from the structure of the tooth whether this was an insect eater, or a fruit eater? Nice Julianna! This stuff does have great fossils and so much variety in recent remains as well. Good eyes and super photos as always. I do so enjoy finding mammal specimens, John. And you're right, this matrix has a wonderful variety of finds. It is one of my favorite matrices for that very reason. I am getting my photos ready for a trip report on this batch...lots of cool things. Great find and pics Julianna! Thank you, Jeff A great little find Julianna and super pics as usual ! Thanks, Ancient Bones. My first bat tooth..how cool is that!
RichW9090
Most likely an insect eater, Julianna. But I don't try to identify bats from a single tooth - that's well above my pay-grade! The plural of "anecdote" is not "evidence".
