Shamalama
I was doing some research on PA fossil collecting sites and came across this free pamphlet provided by the Pittsburgh Geological Society: http://www.pittsburghgeologicalsociety.org...0pghfossils.pdf It was published in 1990 so who knows if the sites list are still good, but it would be good to check them out. It's fairly comprehensive talking about the formations present at the sites and how they formed, the biota and how they lived, etc. Dave
tuscarora-th
Interesting read. I always wanted a fossilized cockroach!
carby60
I grew up in that area. We had a place on the side of a hill where we would dig out fern/plant fossils all day long.

I'm about to move to Pittsburgh for North Carolina. That pdf is insanely informative and will certainly be a big help as I explore the area. Just knowing about the different strata/formations is immensely useful. Thanks!
