Insect Wing?

Am I trying too hard to make this a photo of an insect wing? From Cahaba River area Central Alabama. Have never found any animal/insect life before. OR is it possibly a bivalve? The entire shiny part of the fossil.

I certainly don't see an insect wing. Btw, this photo and the track photo are both good quality. The leaf.... Well...

Not seeing the veining you would expect from an insect wing.

What is the size of this item?

Any idea what formation/age/ of the sediments it was found in?

What other fossils are found there?

Looks promising. A photo under ethanol may help bring out the venation.

Okay thanks for the great info. I'll do what I can to make the photo clearer to what I see.

I'm about a year late to this thread. Did you happen by any chance to find this at the Living River Retreat? I found an insect wing (per Dr. Ehret at the museum) near there, and he mentioned to me that someone else had also found a wing there just a month later. I'm guessing that was probably you.

We both need to go back and find the rest of the bugs :)

I think Dr. Ehret still has the insect wing.  yes, it was found at Living River, so sorry I haven't answered before now.
