Macrophyseter
While I was looking around a fossil gallery that happened to display both real and fake fossils, I decided to see if I could identify a fake fossil in a "wall matrix". What I did was bang the "wall matrix", and I figured it out by hearing the sound. If you bang the fossil matrix, and It sounds like glass, It's most likely a fake. Well, that could be true for SOME fakes. Not all. REMEMBER: ALWAYS ASK PERMISSION TO THE OWNER WHEN TESTING THE FOSSIL. If you're a fossil nut from Palos Verdes, San Pedro, Redondo Beach, or Torrance, feel free to shoot me a PM!
