I found this in a shale bed in Colorado. I found sand crab tunnel fossils and she'll fossils in the same area.

Very curious!

Do the features go through to the other side?

Do you know the geologic age?

There are two that go through to the other side. They are slightly larger in diameter. I will post a picture of the other side. I found the fossil in a shale bed above the Mancos shale layer.

All lined up like that, but not all go through...this is getting weirder!

The rock is 1/2 inch thick. My thoughts were halocite coral or perhaps a toothless section of jawbone. I have found a lot of various shells in the Mancos layer just below this. I have also found large ammonite sections (3" diameter) in the same layer but several miles away. This was the first time I explored this particular area and I mostly found sand crab tunnels which are very common around here. Thanks for your help.

As I see,the distance between the tubular holes is aprox. the same. I don`t think they are crustacean made tunnels.
