Real Or Fake Hyaenodon Horridus Jaw?

Recommended Posts

I bought this juvenile hyaenodon horridus fossil partialjaw off ebay and wanted to know if it is a hyaenodon horridus, if it's real, and how I might be able to determine it's authenticity.post-16898-0-10875400-1433291036_thumb.jpgpost-16898-0-50632300-1433291070_thumb.jpgpost-16898-0-89021000-1433291048_thumb.jpg

I cannot speak for the species, but overall it certainly appears to be genuine, whatever it is.

Me likey!

Those teeth wouldn't look out of place on a old fashioned crosscut saw!

And would be very affective at tearing apart what ever they wanted to snack on.

They have very distinctive twin serrations on each tooth, and I thought that would

Make them reasonably easy to ID.

I have no idea myself, but would like to see your little mystery solved.

Do you know where they originated from?

Great find! And I hope you get a positive ID soon.
