Blackcat Mountain Surprise

Spent the day sorting, classifying, and consolidating the 20 flats of matrix I got from Bob Carroll. I was surprised finding this nice Dicranurus and after consolidating all the pieces it appears to be complete.

Nice! I hope to visit his quarry this fall. How do you make arrangements?

Very neat! Fancy bug :) I wish I lived closer to a place to collect them. That is such a showy critter.

Has anyone tried chemical cleaning of the matrix from fossils from this formation? I have a few from a nearby quarry to work on and I wondered if there is a safe acid to help it along.
