garyc
Here's another recent mosasaur find from the North Sulphur River. Any ideas which bone this might be a part of? One end seems to be an articulating surface. thanks
garyc
A couple more shots. The articulating surface measures 23 x 40mm. The length of the whole chunk is about 65mm.
Foshunter
Gary, I am far from being an expert on Mos. I have looked at the bone piece which is really small to feel confident in a positive ID. It also appears to be a little river traveled which make life more interesting as a lot of fossils from the river. I believe, and maybe, I'm reaching for what I think it is a very small portion of a Clidastes size Mosasaur jaw section?????? as pictured below----Tom Grow Old Kicking And Screaming !!"Don't Tread On Me"
garyc
Thanks, Tom. I was thinking jaw as well. Too bad there are no teeth in this section.
Carl
I agree that you've got part of the mid-jaw articulation of a mosasaur. Nice find!
