Rockwood
This is from a Silurian formation in Maine. Sort of looks right to be a piece but perhaps just the way a shell happened to crush. What do you think ?
erose
Many years ago I ran into an old report about Silurian eurypterids having been found at a quarry in the Shawangunk Formation of New York. That formation is mostly conglomerates and it was hard to imagine any fossils were to be found in it. But I visited the abandoned quarry and sure enough there were thin black shale partings with bits and pieces of eurypterids. I even found one very tiny specimen that was complete except for the limbs. Your fragment reminds me of the sort of hash that was present at the NY site. I'm no where near my library to give the exact reference but try searching: Shawangunk Silurian Eurypterids Otisville, NY. Malcolmt
Not looking eurypterid to me. Sort of looks more like the material we see in squished Silurian cephalopods
