Kilroy62175
I have been trying to id some of the fossils I have been finding through pictures and websites. Being a novice, I just cant seem to come to a easy conclusion so I will have to ask you guys for help. Here is a fossil(?) I found in south central Kentucky. billheim
It does look like a solitary (rugose) coral fragment (horn coral). It's a cross-section. Southern Kentucky has a variety of ages exposed so I can't guess as to the genus/species. For that, you will need to find out what formation the site is or what horn corals are common in that layer. abyssunder
I agree with Bill, looks like a horn coral in transversal section. Herb
FFYI,you can go to the Kentucky Geological Survey site and download older versions of "Paleontology of KY" and "Fossil Corals of KY" for free. 1 "Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence"_ Carl Sagen No trees were killed in this posting......however, many innocent electrons were diverted from where they originally intended to go.
