Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to share some new fossils I got yesterday.

I got a mammoth bone that was found in Kansas, a piece of amber with an insect in it and a pair of ammonites from Morocco. I can't remember what type of ammonite it is, so any help would be appreciated.

This is such a great hobby!

Thanks so much,

Erin

Welcome to the Forum, !!

I think that there is tremendous satisfaction on on-line fossil hunting. I went after this one, because I did not believe that I would find this color in my normal hunting grounds...

I have purchased insects in amber and ammonites (really like yours) but I have taken to finding my own mammoth bones in the field!!! As you say, this is a great hobby!!!!

Nice Acquisitions, Erin! :)

Congratulations.

It's even better when you can get out and find your own! ;)

Thanks for showing us.

Very nice. I considered that same mammoth bone myself earlier this week.

Tim. Going fossil hunting Sunday with some forum memebers.

Ironically in landlocked Cincinnati we only have Ordovician invertebrate marine fossils so I have to hunt on line for mammals and dinosaur fossils.

How exciting for you and it is definitely a fun hobby!!! I sure hope there are fossils that can be found near you-If you found your own you'd be hooked for sure! :) Holding something in your hand that is long gone is pretty amazing to think about?! I hope you continue to be fascinated by them and purchased or not post more on here. :)

Thanks for the comments everyone! I really appreciate the encouragement.

I am definitely enjoying my small, but growing collection.

Unfortunately, I don't have the means to fossil hunt right now. But, I really hope to get out there someday!

It's incredible to hold such awesome pieces of history in my hands.

I'll be hooked on fossils for a good long time! :D

Thanks again!

Erin
