Frty12345
Hey guys, I was wondering if these two shells are fossils or just plain shells? A friend of mine found them just lying around a trail in Colorado covered up by dirt and rock. It's a miracle she even spotted them. I mean seashells in Colorado of all places? If they are fossils would anyone happen to know the species? Thanks in advance
Auspex
Where in Colorado? There is no shortage of marine-deposited strata there, but these look suspiciously modern, as in the remains of a recent lunch. Troodon
Colorado was part of the inland seaway so there are lots of cretaceous marine deposit. These don't appear that old. I'm not aware of any younger marine deposits that would produce these shells. Let's see what our invertebrate experts say.
