Micro Tooth And Tooth/claw

In the last batch of gravel I brought home from Rattlesnake Creek in Gainesville, Florida I found a couple tiny fossils that I'm trying to identify. The one picture with a scale is in mm and I'm sorry about the blurriness of some of the pictures. These things are tiny! Even putting them under one of those magnifying lights and taking pictures through the magnifying lens I still wasn't able to get the best photos. Hopefully they will be clear enough that someone might recognise them.

I think that the first fossil is either a tooth or claw but it might turn out to be something else entirely. I'm leaning more towards tooth as it doesn't seen to curve enough for a claw and I think I see a hint of enamel. In case it's not clear in the pictures whatever it is is not completely round.

The second fossil is a tooth, possibly mammal. I took a lot of pictures of this thing and these are the clearest of them. Taking pictures of the chewing surface was very frustrating so I've just included all of the ones that were at least somewhat clear.

Khyssa, that first tooth is probably a fish tooth. You can see the enamel shine in your photos. I have several like it from Rattlesnake Creek.

The mammal tooth is very nice (with roots!), and reminds me of the bat tooth I found in that matrix. Hopefully, someone who really knows teeth will be able to ID it for you.

And yes, it is very difficult to photograph such tiny finds. :)

Thanks, Juliana! I thought that the first tooth might be from a fish due to it's size but wasn't sure. Bat would be very nice for the second tooth! The tooth is in amazing condition for how tiny it is. I tried doing searches for rodent teeth but almost everything I found was from large rodents and looked nothing like my tooth.

I went out and bought one of those magnifier, clamp on desk lamps just to use for looking at and taking pictures of some of my tinier fossils (it's now attached to my dining room table). These pictures were taken the same day I bought the light. And it was still extremely difficult to get clear pictures! I image after some trial and error I'll figure out the best set-up to use.

Now I'll be able to sort through and photograph some of the smaller fossils I've been finding in Gainesville to post here. Then we can compare what we've each been finding. :D
