garyc
I am totally stuck on this one. I found it in Colorado River gravel, Texas. I don't know if it's river polished bone, the root of a tooth or a piece of tusk. One end almost looks like an occlusal surface and the other end is hollow. The closed end has a piece that has sheered off and reveals an interesting texture. Please help.

Harry Pristis
This is the closest I can get to your tooth: I now believe that this is a canine from a suid, rather than from a tayasuid. http://pristis.wix.com/the-demijohn-page What seest thou else In the dark backward and abysm of time? ---Shakespeare, The Tempest
garyc
So you're thinking modern pig? It seems so's fossilized. Is there something that distinguishes pig from peccary?
