So I've had a post before asking this but, does anyone know any fossils sites near Minneapolis, I know there is Lilydale, but it's currently closed, I don't care if it's a ditch next to a road, or if you need a permit I just want to know LEGAL fossil sites that I can go to, hunt, collect and leave! Thank you for the help!

How far from MPS are you willing to travel? The corridor from MPS to Cannon Falls to Rochester has fossiliferous areas. From Rochester south and east gets even more interesting. Let me know. Also check out Bluff Country Fossils website as a great starting point

The Mississippi bluffs along the University of Minnesota have Plattville caps which contain fossils. Fort Snelling area is similar. North of Stillwater near the west end of Osceola Bridge. Wangs Corner In Goodhue County offers great collecting out of the Cummingsville/Galena formation. As Auspex pointed out, Bev is the local SE Minnesota guru. She is the person behind Bluff Country Fossils. Good luck in your collecting.
