Pool Man
Hello all, This is my favorite item in my collection, I just wanted to share it with ya'll. I Found it in my creek here in NorthPort FL. It was in a light grey clay that is usually very dense and hard to get through. But, this turtle must have fallen in a hole that was about 10" wide and was filled with a much softer version of the same clay. Its made up of about 25 pieces or so. At least 50% of the fossils I find in this creek are turtle shell parts, but this is by far the closest I've come to a whole shell. I figure its late pleistocene. Roz
I don't see many turtle shells, usually just one of two pieces.. That is almost complete..excellent! Did most break apart before they were fossilized, do you know? It seems unusual to find one intact... Welcome to the forum!

Pool Man
Thanks everyone. Roz, I believe it was broken apart after it fossilized. Some of the shell plates were broken across what would normally be a bone plate line. But. I'm also pretty sure this guy was eaten by something,so could have been the way it was crushed by the predator, and it fossilized after it was crushed.
