First fossil hunting trip since 2000.

Weather was fine and clear.

I leaved home early in the morning and drove about 3 hours to Ashiya machi in north of the Fukuoka prefecture.

Just right there: https://www.google.co.jp/maps/place/%E7%A6%8F%E5%B2%A1%E7%9C%8C%E9%81%A0%E8%B3%80%E9%83%A1%E8%8A%A6%E5%B1%8B%E7%94%BA/@33.8938819,130.6606603,9z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x3543cb65d2a52add:0x93c088c48b41c2b4

In Ashiya machi you will find some small outcrop on the shore belonging to the Ashiya formation and composed of Oligocene sand stone.

In this formation was discovered some shark teeth, and plotopterum bones and shell.

I spend half a day there and get a sunburn in bonus.

Here's the find of the day :

A Turittella :

A Babylonia sp. (? not sure about that)

an unidentified bone fragment (Plotopterum or maybe a sea mammal like a seal bone ? If someone have a clue it would be awesome)

It was a good day, very fun, and I came back home with some trophies.

Already looking forward the next trip.

If you have any question about ashiya machi, I am here for you.
