Proposing A Blind Trade

My last package to Europe took over a month =/ Unsure why it takes so long for American parcels to make it to Europe.

I want in on this so bad but I won't be able to go out hunting until late spring/early summer.

Getting to hunt in South Dakota is going to be a blast, I can't wait!

This will be the fist year I've lived here I can actually plan trips and I found out my friends stepdad

owns a cabin on the white river ( where Sue the T-Rex was found ) but we'll see if we actually get to go.

So unless I can find a bunch of stuff that I don't want to part with or I go back to Ohio where my collection is

It's going to be awhile.

I propose a blind trade.

Would anyone like to participate?

I can take on two more contestants from U.S.

Please observe a few simple game rules.

1. When sending items, kindly give labeling to the best of your ability ( where found, formation, ID ), Fossils are just unusual

curiosities otherwise.

2. Someone is going through the trouble of hand picking items from their collection to send you. When you send your items, have

the mindset of "would I want this in my collection". Be nice and don't just send a box of unrecognizable garbage fossils you

wouldn't even put out in your garden. ( still disappointed from a recent trade!)

3. Try to coordinate it so both parties ship their packages at the same time so neither party has the advantage of knowing what

the other is sending. No hints either!!!

OK, enough of my ranting.

P.S. Still no results from our European brethren?

Hi Caldigger,

I sent a package for trade to a member in the USA and unfortunately had to contact him and ask him not to send me anything in return for a few months, reason being that 4 weeks ago my wife had a fall and broke her leg and had to have it plated and pinned back together, she is non weight bearing for 6 weeks so cant get to the door to take a package.

I know that the package has been received and the person in question is waiting to open the package until he can send me his.

Cant wait as I have seen some of the trades that the member has done in the past.

Regards

Mike

Where are those pictures of items received? I have only seen a few posted. There should be pictures of items being traded on both sides of the trade. Everyone would like to see what you get. Come on guys, that is what makes this game fun. We want to see what YOUR package included.

Here are just a few of the items I received in my trade with Vieira-dinosaur bone, turitella, three megalodon teeth, various shark teeth (some not shown), ammonites, brachiopods (not shown), turtle bone (not shown), a small crab concretion (not shown), etc. Some are in storage, as there is limited room on my display, but I loved everything :) I apologize for being so late in responding!

Looks like you scored big time Skyler.

"Some are in storage, as there is limited room on my display, but I loved everything :)"

Time to rearrange the homestead to make room for more. After all, what's more important, a good display or actual living space? Come on, where are your priorities?

I would have to agree and am very blessed/pleased :)

Sooo I came back on Friday evening after a stressful working week outside of home to find a slip from the postman waiting for me in the mail box ... I had missed his visit that day . There were several possibilities , all promising . I set up this morning with the kids to the post office ( also a no-wife week-end , meaning a free agenda !)en route to a late breakfast under an already hot sun . I was still surprised nonetheless to find the package from Doren (A.K.A Caldigger ) waiting for me at the post office ! No more than a week for the delivery !

post-9611-0-97020600-1463905096_thumb.jpg

That's what I call a good start !

Then I came back home to fully discover the content : wow !

( I tried to take global pictures , there are too many things )

First the labels

then the contents

post-9611-0-16333200-1463860256_thumb.jpg

I must admit I'm a somewhat partial towards the very nice shark teeth and mammal teeth ( to be continued ) .

The hemipristis is a real black beauty ( only ever found one of similar quality before , in Loupian , and since it was prodruting from the cliff under my nose , I was like , noooo ! and HAD to put the finger on it to check whether it was real or not ... as a result it broke of course , and I had to restore it .)and the Isaurus has gorgeous colors .

A very nice selection of fossils by Daren , and I feel really privileged to be on this side of the trade .I can only hope that you will be as happy as I am right now ! :)

PS : In case the tracking site is in French , because I shipped late on saturday and Monday was off , my package started its little travel on 17/05 only , but it was tagged in the US on the 20th , and went out of customs the same day to continue towards you today . Should also take 1 week .

NB : hrmm : I'm afraid I didn't have time to prepare nice labels like yours . Should you have any problems reading my prose , I will clarify by PM!

I don't know if you're concerned about your privacy but I see your full name and address on that package! I'd blur that out if I were you..

Very True Wrangellian , I don't want to be overwhelmed by generous collectors sending me packages ... :D

That being said , I'm not at all concerned , but I probably should be a little bit more paranoid ... thanks !!

Maybe I'm more paranoid than I should be, but if the only risk was in receiving more nice fossil packages, I'd post my address all over the place here!
