Sorry it's taking so long to get to you Filipe. It seems unfair I got yours two weeks ago. Once it leaves the U.S. I have no control. I guess your customs department take their time. Hang tight buddy, I'm sure it wont be too much longer.

Before I commit is there a certain number of fossils to be sent. Like how do I know if I sent enough or not. Judging from what I have seen the trades are for a considerable amount of things. Which is fine.Just curious how to know when enough is enough. Also are you giving any clue as to maybe the types of things the other person is interested in? I woukd hate to send stuff the other person might not like. Or is this a truly blind trade totally up to me what I want to give?

It's entirely up to you. I'm going to ship 'a theme' I think. :)

Totally up to you on both accounts. I usually fill a box up with as much as I can fit (15-20 pieces depending on the items), But in answer to your question, it is to be COMPLETELY blind with no clues given, grab bag style. That's what makes it so exciting, the not knowing.

For me, I try to take note of where the other person is located and attempt to pick items that they most likely wouldn't have available to hunt in that area. But what you send is at your discretion. There are just a few simple rules. 1. No junk, 2. Label as best you can, 3. Try to send at the same time so no player has the advantage of scrutinizing what the other has sent prior shipment. Pretty easy right?

Are you in?

Oh and let me state for all viewers, this game is NOT just for me. I want other members to play amongst themselves also. But when you do, can you please post results of the trades? Everybody likes to see what you get!

Yes Chas, he sent some matrix pieces in a bed of sand. I will run it through my sifter and see what I can find.

Fossil Claw

Too funny..I misread the topic as "proposing a blind date" when I was scrolling through and got a gpod laugh.

Although, that might not be a bad way to meet women that share a love for fossils.

Any brave souls out there willing to step up to the plate and take a chance? It's a real easy game to play. I send, you send...it's that easy!

I can't believe out of the thousands upon thousands of members on here there aren't more members that like getting great surprises in the mail. What's the risk? That you might get some nice fossils that you may never have to chance to collect on your own?

Sounds like a win-win situation to me.

So what do you say? I believe everyone that has played has been very satisfied with what they have received. Come on, Have some fun and play the Blind Trade game.

It is open to everyone to play, either with me or someone else. All I ask is for you to post picture from results of the trade whoever you play with.

Anyone still interested in doing this in the US? I'd love to do overseas, but I'd have to look into shipping first.

I live in an area that is completely lousy with Devonian fossils. I frequent the Windom and Wanakah Shale Members in Western New York. It's amazing how many fossils I can pick up, (not dig out) in a 20 minute period. They are certainly not all gems, but they are fossils, and many are still of a high quality!

One of the main reasons I sought out this forum was to share that abundance!

If anyone is interested in swapping for something you might have a ton of I would be more than willing. I'm not detail prepping them as I don't trust my skills yet to not blow them all up and I don't own an air abrasion unit yet, but I will do most of the matrix removal so at least you know what you're getting and can decide how to progress on your own.

Really looking forward to hanging out here and looking forward to hearing suggestions on how to prep my finds better!

Check out my most recent finds here: http://www.thefossilforum.com/index.php?/topic/65792-penn-dixie-site-may-2016/

Here are the items I received from the "British Invasion" via John Brewer. 2 plant fossils, dinosaur bone, gastrolith, several belemnites, various shells of bivalves, brachiopod and gastropod, a small lobster, a Scottish ammonite, Silurian seafloor sample, fish teeth, worms, crocodilian coprolite and a good handful of fossils for the kiddies.

P.S. His package got to me in one week to the day. I can hardly get something across the state in that timeframe.
