Plantguy
Cordaites leaves and Crenulopteris ( pecopteris ) lamuriana IMG_2660.jpg IMG_2681.JPG Hi Bruno. Gorgeous material--very nice! Glad to see a post from you again! I am curious and cant tell from the photo...is the pecopterid a fertile example? Fossil hunting is starting again here in Florida---it takes a bit of a break for the summer due to all the heavy rains but the Tampa fossil club 1st meeting of the fall is tonight...They'll be discussing mostly vertebrates and a bit of invertebrate hunting. They are very neat but I'd prefer looking for some plant material-- but with not much down here plantwise to chase I'll be looking for things with legs and shells! Any chance you have found any arthropod pieces lately in amongst the plant finds?? Thanks again for showing some plants! Regards, Chris
docdutronc
Hi Chris Yes it is a fertil foliage , It's always a pleasure to share my findings with experts, I now live in Grenoble aera , I left my home region, the north of France after my retirement .I prospects in the Upper Carboniferous and ferns are rare .The flora is rather represented by Cordaites genera (leaves, stems, trunks) and some Lycopsids . For arthropods piece ; one of my friends found a beautiful fragment of cockroach wing, but I can now show, sorry . I continuous to write papers about plants for the french magazine press : "Fossiles ". docdutronc
Hi A small work of synthesis on the bracts morphogenus Lepidostrobophyllum, taken from a study of our friend Jean Philippe Dudziak . Here are samples from French Alps , ( Kasimovian to Gzhelian, - 306,5 to - 299 m.y.). South Belledonne ,near Grenoble (France ), it would seem that they are mainly related to the species: L.hastatus Lesquereux. and L. triangulare Zeiller . I also found twice as very long, thin leaves with a well marked middle line ,could be sigillaria leaves (Cyperites ) ...
