I couldn't believe this was sitting right on top of the sand. I almost tripped over it! This is quite a bit larger than other mammoth verts I've found and definitely more intact.

Great inspiration for all of us. There are great specimens to be found in front of our nose.

I have often thought about my best 5 finds ever....and 4 of them were suddenly 'just there', while walking back to the vehicle, taking time to look at something in Nature, etc. They involved taking a break from my usual intense staring at an exposure. Perhaps our mind relaxes and we're more open to seeing the obvious that is around us.

Sorry, I post so much I figure everyone knows where I've been. Brazos River, Texas. I actually looked up and around to see if anyone was nearby and had planted it while I was pacing back and forth.
