Hi all. Please help me identify this beauty! Found in an abandoned bluestone quarry on Twin Mountain in the Catskills at elevation of approximately 1900 ft. Many thanks in advance!

Welcome to the Fossil Forum from the Hudson Valley, NY. I think I know that bluestone quarry where you found that. Never found any fossils in there myself. It definitely appears to be some type of plant. I would suggest sending a photo to William Stein at SUNY Binghamton. He's the expert on Devonian plants. Besides pieces of bark, roots, twigs, and branches, any other type of plant fossil such as leaves, is pretty rare in the Catskills. It's possible he may be interested in it. Good luck and again welcome. Curious if you have any other fossils from that area.

Archaeopteris, perhaps. Late Devonian.

Like Jeffrey said that is an excellent find. I came across lots of plant material in the Catskills but all of a woody origin. Leaves seemed to be rare. Great find.
