Could they be ?

Found in a glacial deposit here in Maine. They could be any where from mid Cambrian to mid Devonian. These shapes could even be volcanic. They don't react to vinegar. My thought is that they may be chert replacements of stromatolites.

My guess would be Basalt or other igneous rock with Zeolite on the upper part, how is Thomsonite for example.

It does seem the most likely explanation for it. Given the difficulties in positively identifying stromatolites I knew it was a long shot.
