Hmmmmmm,,,, been to a lot of fossil sites in Oregon. Never found a sharks tooth. Guess I wasn't in the right place. That one is quite nice paul!

Hi Ron,

You were probably in the right place, however as I said, shark teeth are few and far between (ie rare)

Keep in mind I lived on the Oregon coast for 10years and collected there almost every day

Here are a few shark bits from the Oregon coast. The first is a unprepared shark tooth from the Astoria Fm. The second is a vert from the Nye Fm. Unfortunately the vert is incomplete. The diameter of the vert is of just over three inches.

TEETH?

Large fish skull. I prepared this far, then decided to give it to the museum

Better for a specialist to prep

Great stuff PRK! Is that Des tooth and jaw from the Astoria Fm.? Interesting fish skull. Is it a side profile?

Nice Desmo! Was that one loose or in matrix when you collected it? I did enlarge the fish photo but i still could not quite tell. Most of the fish i find out there are either isolated brain cases or partially articulated side profile bones that make up the skull. I have also found a few flat, top up fish that are somewhat articulated but these seem to be a lot less common. I couldn't tell for sure if we are looking at the top or the side.
