Triceratops
Hey everyone! This summer I have been trying my hand at stone carving, I have been scouring the beach for bits of sandstone and taking the most likely bits home to carve with. So far my creations are an Eagle’s head and a boat, but I have been thinking about replicating some fossil that I do not have in my collection, maybe a trilobite or some sort of dinosaur tooth? What do you think I should do? Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Edited January 17, 2016 by Triceratops -Lyall
PaleoRon
Buy yourself some soapstone to work with. It can be carved with a knife and will take a nice polish. An ammonite would make a good project for a display piece.
Triceratops
Yes soapstone would be great, I'll search around for some. An ammonite is a good idea, I might start by doing a practice one in sandstone. Or perhaps some sort of nautiloid? -Lyall
Raptor Lover
You can try to carve a Tyrannosaur tooth "Or speak to the earth, and let it teach you" Job 12:
